SIEGENIA operates in a highly competitive market. Price pressure is correspondingly high. Digital innovations can therefore become a decisive competitive advantage and secure the long-term success of a company. SIEGENIA pursues a multi-level sales concept via the building hardware trade, the fabricator (e.g. window manufacturers or carpenters) through to the end user of the finished elements. SIEGENIA wants to use digitalization to increase convenience in contact with customers from the ordering to the delivery process and avoid possible configuration errors when ordering. Other objectives were to reduce internal costs and speed up delivery times.
This gave rise to the idea for the digital configuration and ordering of the COMFORT UNIT. It includes all the components of a complex lift and slide door system, from the hardware and operating elements to the custom-made threshold. The integrated store system is fully connected to SAP and displays the customer-specific purchase price or the gross price for fabricator customers. With the introduction of an e-commerce solution based on SAP Commerce, SIEGENIA pursued the goal of offering a solution that provides all relevant information for the customer and eliminates errors when entering data. This requires access to SAP R/3 data.
The creation of a positive customer experience and thus an increase in customer satisfaction is to be achieved, among other things, through transparent and simplified variant configuration. The simplification of all processes for the dealers and processors connected to the system through digital order entry with automated processing and production processes is intended to further expand competitive advantages.
Solution
With the development of an e-commerce solution with PIM based on SAP Commerce, SYBIT developed an online store with a variant configurator as a convenient tool for configuration and order entry. As millions of different variants are possible during configuration, there was a high probability of errors in the past.
With the new solution (SAP Product Configuration), incorrect configurations, i.e. configurations that do not fit together, are ruled out. The time-consuming need for coordination is eliminated. Errors are displayed and resolved directly in the configurator. This means that building element dealers, window manufacturers and other fabricators can order error-free and precisely fitting COMFORT UNIT, i.e. optimized lift and slide complete packages with threshold, from the SIEGENIA store. Fabricators can select their specific dealer in the system and receive a price in real time. The dealer in turn orders from SIEGENIA and sees his purchase price, i.e. gross price - customer discount.
Once the order has been taken, the process is given a tracking code. Dealers and fabricators receive a delivery time confirmation and can track the status of production and delivery.
